Handyman work often combines short jobs, changing scope and customers who make decisions while you are already on site. That is exactly where a quick signed record can be useful — provided the document stays simple.

Estimate approval

For planned jobs, send the estimate/proposal PDF before reserving the schedule or buying materials. The customer should see scope, price, exclusions and acceptance language in one place.

Work authorization for diagnosis or limited repairs

When the exact repair is uncertain, a work authorization can document what the customer permits you to inspect or perform, including an agreed spending limit when appropriate.

Additional work while on site

If the customer asks for extra shelving, patching, hardware replacement or another task not in the original scope, document the addition before treating it as part of the job. A short change/additional-work approval can prevent a dispute over what the original estimate included.

Completion acknowledgement

For larger handyman jobs, a simple closeout record can list completed work and remaining items before the final invoice.
